Abstract

The diagnosis of obesity-associated lymphedematous mucinosis (OALM) was rendered since no evidence of venous pathology, systemic lupus erythematosus, monoclonal gamma disease, or thyroid pathology was detected. Dear Editor, A 73-year-old male, with a history of type 2 diabetes, alcohol-related liver disease, and obesity, was referred to dermatology for evaluation of skin lesions affecting both legs that appeared 2 years ago. Pretibial location of the lesions can also provide the physician a diagnostic hint, considering mostly three entities: stasis mucinosis, obesity associated lymphedematous mucinosis (OALM), and pretibial myxedema.
