Evaluation the level of Interleukin-6 and total protein levels on women with breast cancer.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in female in Iraq and is one of the main causes of cancer-related deaths. The prevalence of breast cancer in female is rising, the mortality of breast cancer can be reduced by regular breast cancer screening program. Knowledge, attitudes about breast cancer is clearly associated with an increase in the survival rate of breast cancer, little is known about the knowledge level and awareness of breast cancer of female in the Arab world. The present study was conducted on women with breast cancer at Al-Amal Oncology Hospital in Baghdad. The study included 65 samples of women with breast cancer with ages ranging between 40 and 70 years and 25 samples of healthy women as control samples with ages ranging between 40 and 70 years. The samples were collected between the 1/10/2020 and 15/1/2020. The current study measured Interleukin-6 (IL-6), serum protein, albumin, urea, and uric acid in the serum of women with breast cancer compared to healthy women. We conclude that there was a significant increase in serum levels of interleukin-6, serum protein, albumin, urea and uric acid in women with breast cancer compared to healthy women. and the presence of a positive correlation between the level of interleukin-6 and albumin in women with breast cancer.
