Abstract

The article comments on psychologist Mark Baldwin's work. Baldwin has discussed problems in handling the time dimension in the statistical analysis of data regarding a single individual. In discussing temporal trends he has distinguished between the two types of dependence of the data with respect to time series. Certainly this is a very desirable distinction which Baldwin has suggested and it appears that much is to be gained from separating the variance in terms of factors of this type. The methods of analysis of variance and covariance lend themselves especially well to such separation as is proposed.
