This article reports on the organization, Biosphere 2 which is looking for money and a business model that works. The center's owner, Decisions Investment Corp. of Ft. Worth, Texas, has announced it is seeking proposals for either a management partnership or purchase of the 300,000-square-foot complex of offices, classrooms, laboratories, as well as a hotel and conference center on a 140-acre campus near Oracle, Arizona. The announcement is the latest chapter in the troubled tale of this ecological showcase or publicity stunt, turned prospective research institute and tourist attraction. Biosphere 2 has been struggling for a purpose since before the last "bionaut" emerged from under its latticework glass dome in 1994.
