The authors comment on the study "Algorithms for Ethical Decision Making in the Clinic," wherein L. Meier and colleagues describe their approach to developing machine intelligence to support ethical decision-making in the clinic. Topics include poorly defined problem statement and inadequate consideration of constraints, heterogeneity and representatives of data sources used for training, and programmability of the ethical framework.
