Warka Water Tower: Innovative Exploration of Ecological Sustainability.

The Warka Water Tower is an innovative and sustainable solution to the chronic drinking water problems confronting rural southern Ethiopia by integrating local knowledge and resources, prospective design and ancient traditions. This paper presents how the Warka Water Tower "extracts" water from thin air to provide alternative water to rural African residents who have little access to drinking water. The work maximizes the regional beauty, combines modern technology and low cost, excavates traditional culture, activates regional potential, achieves the comprehensive influence of public art on specifc communities, and improves the social utility of public art.
