Abstract
- The paper proposes a unique approach to designing the plan and profile of a hump yard. For the formation of the subgrade in the cross-section, it is proposed to use one-petal and two-petal hyperbolic paraboloids (hypars), and also, it is proposed a form of a hypersurface of a hump yard, in which the guide is a curve with negative Gaussian curvature, and the formative is a parabola (a curve with positive curvature). In order to ensure rapid rolling of cars and carriages on the surface of the hump it is proposed to replace the parabola with the apex in the hyperbolic paraboloid with the apex at the bottom, with a brachistochrone. As a result, to design the surface of the marshalling hump we get a shell of negative Gaussian curvature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
