Abstract

These IgG Abs can reduce cell activation by competing with IgE for allergen epitopes (allergen masking) or crosslinking the allergen/IgE/Fc RI complex with the inhibitory IgG receptor Fc RIIB. Allergen tolerance Type I allergy is a persisting dysregulated immune response to innocuous antigens characterized by increased levels of allergen-specific Th2 cells and IgE Abs. Allergies have become a major challenge for our health systems, affecting a constantly increasing population, which suffer either from life threatening anaphylaxis or chronic inflammatory diseases.
