Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel source used to extend fossil fuels' worth, cleanliness, and diesel engine longevity. Biodiesel reduces the emission of greenhouse gas because its carbon cycle is closed. It has various disadvantages, including an increase in NOx emission and regular intervals in replacement of fuel filters and fuel tanks as it leads to clogging. Nano additives are being used as fuel additives to improve fuel properties. The results achieved an enhancement in heat transfer rate, improvement in thermo physical properties, decreased exhaust emission rate, and an increase in engine performance. This review paper deals with the various methods for Nano fluid preparation and its properties, applying nanoparticles in multiple fields, performance characteristics, and emission characteristics of biodiesel blend with nanoparticles in the diesel engine. The addition of nanoparticles improved the brake thermal efficiency and reduced the NOx emissions in the various biodiesel blends. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
