Abstract

Graph: Figure 2: The planar [C(CN)3]- anion in the crystal structure of Tl[tcm] exhibiting its ideal D3h point symmetry as viewed along [001] (left) and with its full Tl+-cation decoration (right). 4 Conclusions We report here the thallium(I) tricyanomethanide Tl[tcm] with the expected formula Tl[C(CN) SB 3 sb ] ( C SB 4 sb N SB 3 sb Tl) exhibiting a hitherto unknown crystal structure. This coordination sphere consists of six terminal nitrogen atoms ( I d i (Tl-N) = 299.2(4) pm) belonging to six different [tcm] SP - sp anions with three of those being part of the anionic sheet SP 1 sp / SB 3 sb I c i above and the remaining three belonging to the sheet SP 1 sp / SB 3 sb I c i below the cationic layer.
