Abstract

Keywords: electrochemical reduction; kinetic parameter; rhenium; uranium EN electrochemical reduction kinetic parameter rhenium uranium 349 362 14 05/12/22 20220501 NES 220501 1 Introduction The key for the sustainable development of nuclear energy is to develop an efficient nuclear fuel cycle system. The analysis result of ESD indicates that the reduced uranium exists in the form of U(IV) ion rather than UO SB 2 sb , while rhenium in the form of rhenium oxide deposited on Mo electrode. Since U(IV) can be easily precipitated from aqueous solution, reduction of U(VI) into U(IV) has been regarded as an effective way to decontaminate uranium from radioactive waste [[13], [17]]. Evidently, the cyclic voltammogram of U(VI) provides us with a series of electrochemical reactions corresponding to redox behavior of U and the possibility for the reduction of uranium by direct electrolysis from hydrochloric acid.
