Abstract

The article focuses on the testimony of Betty Currie, secretary of U.S. President Bill Clinton, with regard to the scandal involving Clinton and former White House intern Monica Lewinsky in 1999. Currie, during her first interview, said that she could only recall two specific visits by Lewinsky to Clinton and could not remember incidents when Currie allegedly cleared Lewinsky into the White House 26 times. At Currie's second interview, she was asked about an incident where Lewinsky started a fight when she learned that Clinton was with politician Eleanor Mondale. Such interview led to an angry confusion between Currie and U.S. Secret Service agents. Lies were obvious during Currie's final court appearance in July, wherein she said that she could no longer recall that she used to come into the White House on weekends for the primary purpose of admitting Lewinsky to the Oval Office.
