Diabetes mellitus (DM), in particular type 2 DM (T2DM), and obesity have become one of the largest emerging threats to health over the last decades. By grading T2DM patients according to their weight, a further reduction in all three LA strain and strain rate values could be detected in overweight and obese T2DM patients as compared with normal-weight T2DM patients.
