Abstract

The article discusses the history of dermatology in Dublin, Ireland. The story of dermatology in Dublin begins in 1804, when Thomas Moriarty, published in Dublin a neat little octavo volume of 64 pages, "A Description of the Mercurial Lepra," giving a clear account of the course, clinical appearances and origin of the mercurial drug eruption. Abraham Colles also made great contributions for dermatology in Dublin. His largest and most important work was his "Observations on the Venereal Disease and the use of Mercury," published in Dublin and London, England in 1837.
