Adaptive radiation, evolutionary radiation, non-adaptive radiation, speciation, sexual radiation Since the mode of evolutionary radiation is uniform within each of three small radiations, the entire radiation can be explained by a combination of three simple models gl CONCLUSIONS AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS From the perspective of the functions of classification in promoting scientific research, I proposed that classification of evolutionary radiations should ideally be associated with generating mechanisms behind them. By dividing the abstract space defined by such axes into smaller regions, they classified instances of rapid radiation into the following five types: classic adaptive radiations; non-adaptive radiations; sexual radiations; microhabitat-driven radiations; ecological novelty without species richness.
