Abstract

Species of Tricholoma sect. Tricholoma are economically and ecologically important. Studies on the taxonomy of the section were mainly conducted in Europe and North America, but knowledge about this section's species diversity in China remains rudimentary. In this study, phylogenetic analyses based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and morphological characteristics were used to investigate the species diversity of T. sect. Tricholoma in China. Our analyses indicate that nine species, T. citrinum, T. equestre, T. frondosae, T. mastoideum, T. olivaceoluteolum, T. portentosum, T. qiaomianjun, T. sinoportentosum, and T. virgatum, are distributed in China. Among these, T. citrinum, T. mastoideum, and T. qiaomianjun are newly described in this study. In addition, a key to the species of T. sect. Tricholoma in China is provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
