Abstract

In this article we apply the normal, truncated normal, and Weibull distributions for modelling the annual extreme wind load obtained from the Kazan-"Basic" meteorological station for years 1905–2004. The statistical modelling of extreme wind load is important in the design of structures such as city buildings. More generally, it provides information about weather for modification and monitoring climate change. In particular, meteorologists can fit various statistical frequency distributions to historical wind data in order to estimate the magnitude of maximum wind. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
