Abstract

Cropped images and partial view may prevent correct diagnosis or lead to pseudo-pathology. First, iconodiagnosis should be performed "live" in front of the work of art, as described by Strauss et al.2 The spectator screens artistic works for 30 s from a distance of 1 m, concentrating on face, hands and all exposed skin, and then step closer for detail analysis.
