Abstract

When a high-speed spacecraft returns to the atmosphere, a plasma sheath is formed on its surface. This causes electromagnetic waves to be reflected and absorbed. In this paper, a single-layer medium matrix transport model is used to derive expressions for the reflectivity, transmittance and attenuation values of electromagnetic waves. The electron density distribution is also modelled and the effects of electron density, plasma thickness, particle collision frequency, and magnetic field strength on the reflectivity as well as the transmittance of electromagnetic waves are discussed visually using three-dimensional images. Finally, the reflectivity and transmittance of electromagnetic waves propagating in a dust-free plasma are analyzed, with emphasis on comparing the effects of different media on the reflectivity and transmittance of electromagnetic waves. In summary, the relevant research can provide some theoretical references for propagation science. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
