Static VAR Systems (SVS) Project.

This article reports that to improve voltage stability and provide fast dynamic VAR supply following fault disturbances during peak load conditions the Saudi Electric Co. (SEC) plans to install seven Static VAR Systems (SVS). The SVS equipment will be installed in the main 380/1l0-kV substations that supply the bulk loads in the cities of Jeddah and Madinah, which are part of the Western Branch of the SEC transmission system. The seven SVS's with ratings that range from 0 to + 200 and -150 to + 450 MVAR will be installed in the Jeddah and Madinah 110-kV substations of Faysalleyah, East Desalting Road, Outer Makkah Road, Jameea, Desalting Plant.
