This paper analyzes the effect of gender segregation across major among youth college graduates on the change in gender wage gap. As a result of the JMP decomposition, the gender segregation across major was eased in four-year colleges, but the effect was not sufficient to affect the gender wage gap. On the other hand, the relative compensation for the engineering field, which is a male-dominated major, has increased significantly, resulting in an effect of increasing the gender wage gap. In addition, the relative compensation for engineering increased significantly as the university ranked higher.
