Abstract
- As the "war on terror" expands to new frontiers, we reflect on how it is memorialised through statues and monuments that serve to erase the imperialist and racialised violence it has embodied (and continues to embody). Proposed design for the National Monument to Canada's Mission in Afghanistan by Team Stimson (Veteran Affairs Canada [28]) PHOTO (COLOR): Figure 2. For the National Monument to Canada's Mission in Afghanistan, the federal agency, Veterans Affairs Canada, is seeking public input on five shortlisted design ideas (see Figures 1 and 2) which will "commemorate and honour the ultimate sacrifice made by those who were killed in Afghanistan." Canada's actions of memorialisation are striking when considered in the context of the "war on terror's" continued expansion. [Extracted from the article]
