Abstract
- This article reports that Hertfordshire police are cracking down on lorry drivers who break the drivers' hours rules and they now have the authority to seize a vehicle if they decide that the driver has broken the regulations. As a result of their increased powers, Hertfordshire Constabulary Road Policing Unit officers say they'll be asking drivers to produce their tachograph if stopped. Should drivers fail to comply or their tacho is missing, the vehicle can be held for up to two days. Drivers from both Great Britain and abroad may be stopped. This legislation came into force on October 1 in order to reduce the number of tired drivers risking their lives and those of other road-users.
