Abstract

A new homo-aro-cholestane glycoside parispolyside H, along with nine known compounds, were isolated from 75% ethanolic extract of the rhizome of Paris polyphylla var. chinensis. Their chemical structures were elucidated on the basic of analysis of detailed spectroscopic and physicochemical properties. In addition, the isolated compounds (1, 6-9) were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against HepG2 human liver cancer cell lines. Among them, four known compounds (6-9) showed cytotoxicity with IC<subscript>50</subscript> values ranging from 0.41 to 3.6 μM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
