Preface.

This special issue of CPP is devoted to the memory of an outstanding Russian physicist - Academician Vladimir Fortov (January 23, 1946-November 29, 2020). He made outstanding contributions to the physics of extreme states of matter and to the physics of high energy densities, the physics of shock and detonation waves, thermal physics, chemical physics, energetics, and other areas of physics and technology. Under Vladimir's leadership, a series of pioneering experimental and theoretical studies of the structural and dynamic properties of plasma-dust crystals was carried out in a wide range of temperatures and pressures.
