Abstract
- The article presents information on the Noranda Inc.'s Magnola magnesium plant in Danville, Quebec. The plant will remain closed even though the U.S. anti-dumping duty on imports of pure magnesium from Canada has been struck down by a North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) panel. The final decision by the binational panel amends the final results of a full snnset review by the International Trade Connnission. Although prices for magnesium have increased since the plant's closure, those gains have been offset by a stronger Canadian dollar and higher energy costs.
