Abstract

The article reports that public complaint leads to fines for six Texas contractors. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the U.S. has issued penalties to six contractors totaling $151,200 for allegedly failing to provide adequate fall protection for workers at a Denton, Texas, apartment construction site. OSHA began its investigation after receiving word from the public that workers were exposed to fall hazards. Citations and proposed penalties were issued to the general contractor ($81,900), the framing subcontractor ($14,000), a stucco contractor ($5,000), a tile subcontractor ($3,000), and two masonry subcontractors, one of which was fined $34,250 for 14 alleged serious violations, the other of which was fined $13,050 for nine alleged serious violations.
