Abstract
- The article reports on assignation of highly polymorphic markers on a canine purebred pedigree. With the development of molecular genetics, the dog, which was already appreciated in physiological and pharmacological research, has become an even more interesting laboratory animal model. The identification of known mammalian genes of dog mutant alleles confirms that some spontaneous canine disorders are true homologs of human diseases, and provides the opportunity to test potential genetic treatments on animal models.
