Abstract

Comments on the amendments in the Seamen's Law at the London Conference on Safety at Sea by the British government against the backdrop of the sinking of the ship "Titanic." Constituents of the Seamen's Law in connection with the shipping industry; Theory from which the Seamen's Law was drawn; Complaints by authorities of American vessels in the trans-Pacific trade against the amended Seamen's Law which makes the language test mandatory as it requires more than seventy-five percent staff on board to understand "any orders" given by their superiors; Opinion on the calls for the employment of a stated proportion of able seamen in a deck crew.
