Abstract

This study is devoted to the numerical analysis of the process of the hydrogen release at a pressure of 60 atm through an opening diaphragm into a channel filled with oxygen with additives of substances neutral from a chemical point of view: nitrogen, water vapor, carbon dioxide, and helium It is shown that at a certain content of additives, there is no self-ignition of hydrogen during the release. Qualitative regularities are obtained showing that in the case of adding water vapor to the atmosphere of oxygen, the effect of slowing down and ultimately suppressing self-ignition is most pronounced compared to the action of other additives listed below in order of decreasing effect: helium, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen Two scenarios of the development of combustion in the channel are demonstrated and described. In both cases, self-ignition occurs at the side wall of the channel, and then intense combustion develops either in the entire cross section of the channel, or inside the kernel, localized at the channel wall and propagating in the flow in the direction of the exit from the channel.
