Abstract

Presents several political and socio-political issues affecting the U.S. Criticism on the U.S. policy in Nicaragua over the installation of Adolfo Diaz as president and the expulsion of Dr. Juan Bautista Sacasa; Rise of violence against foreigners in China; Growth of discontent of Central Americans in the foreign policy of the U.S. in the region; Opposition of the French nationalists in the Chamber of Deputies on the Mellon-Berenger agreement; Refusal of the Republicans on the appropriation of money for the building of cruisers; Assertion of Senator William Borah that disrespect of law arises from corrupt government and corrupt government is the result of large campaign contributions which is a virtual buying of the elections; Reduction of corn production in the South due to pests; Attempt of the Committee on Public Relations of the Eastern Railroads to mislead the public in its announcements of railroad earnings; Concerns of the railroad companies of the reduction of their rates; Establishment of transatlantic radio-telephony in the U.S.; Debate between Rev. John Nevin Sayre of the National Committee on Militarism in Education and Secretary of War Dwight F. Davis over the allegations of Lt.-Col. C. G. Lewis that Sayre is a Communist; Assertion of the author that army officers are entitled to same free speech as anybody else.
