Abstract
- It may seem unusual for a book about British music video to be reviewed by a New Zealand academic. By documenting cultural memories of the British music video industry from 1966 to 2016, Caston fills a very significant hole in the historicisation of music video and its relationship to its birth parent, the "promo". Emily Caston wishes to give voice to those who have been ignored by what is effectively a culturally colonising view of music video in which the United States holds the privileged position of writing history and maintaining cultural hegemony over other nations.
