- Discusses the educational problem faced in Turkey within which the question of American schools has to be placed. Interest shown by the U.S. in educational institutions which American religious bodies have founded in Turkey; Presence of a large number of Armenian and Greek schools in Turkey; Presumption that any foreign school has designs which are hostile to Turkish nationalism; Factors determining the political slant of French educational and religious activities; Ways in which the Turks approach the question of the activities of the American educational institutions; Reasons why the current state of problems in Turkish educational system could not have been avoided.
