Abstract

Solid-state NMR spectroscopy is used to study the proton transfer from aqueous sulfuric-acid solution to coal of early metamorphic stages and to SKN-2K porous carbon sorbent (the carbonized copolymer of 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine and divinylbenzene). The proton transfer to a spherical polymer granule or a coal membrane is determined by electrolyte diffusion in the solid. In SKN-2K porous sorbent, the diffusion coefficient of sulfuric acid is 1 × 10<superscript>–8</superscript> m<superscript>2</superscript>/s. When the electrolyte flux is perpendicular to the membrane plane, the diffusion coefficient of sulfuric acid is 1 × 10<superscript>–13</superscript> m<superscript>2</superscript>/s.
