Preparation and Property Study on Silver-loaded Cotton Fiber.

The preparation method and property of silver-loaded cotton fiber were researched. Silver-loaded cotton fibers were prepared by in-situ self-assembly method. The morphology of silver-loaded cotton fiber was observed by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and infrared spectrometer. The moisture absorption regain, breaking strength and antibacterial property of cotton fibers with different silver loads were tested. The results showed that silver particles were uniformly distributed on the surface and inside of the cotton fiber after treatment. The utilization rate was the highest when concentration of silver nitrate solution was 2.5 mmol/L. The load of silver particles makes the moisture absorption regain of cotton fiber decrease slightly. The lowest silver content of silver-loaded cotton fiber was 0.43 mg/g, the antibacterial rate was above 90% at this time, the antibacterial property was still better after 50 times of standard washing.
