Abstract

The authors reflect on the significance of a study of the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in children and adolescents with migraine. Topics discussed include the recommendation of CBT with amitriptyline by the American Headache Society and American Academy of Neurology, factors that contribute to the reluctance patients and physicians to use CBT, and potential for CBT to be customized to individual patients.
