Abstract

This can enable the determination of death using neurologic criteria and activation of the donation after brain death pathway - allowing more organs to be transplanted and better post-transplant outcomes to be achieved. We agree with Vincent and Creteur that a planned cDCDD that does not proceed because death does not occur within a timeframe that enables successful organ recovery, can cause harm and frustration ("terrible", in their words).
