Abstract

In the current issue of I Acta Physiologica i , two papers are published investigating the development of arterial hypertension under conditions of pathological loss of free water in two disease models. Aestivation motifs explain hypertension and muscle mass loss in mice with psoriatic skin barrier defect. The contribution of a tentative aestivation versus natriuresis component to CKD-induced hypertension might therefore increase with higher ratio of salt to water intake and minimize for isotonic intake. Aestivation motifs explain hypertension and muscle mass loss in mice with psoriatic skin barrier defect. [Extracted from the article]
