Abstract

Focuses on the lack of awareness of an average European about the current events in his continent, though he has a thorough knowledge of concurrent events in other parts of the world because whatever is printed in the newspapers needs government approval. Alternatives in terms of "word of mouth" or careful examination of buried information in the news for being informed about current events; Difficulty associated with the second alternative as the printed story is nearly the denial of what really happened; Examples of printed snippets of events from various European newspapers and the actual non-printed version of the same news.
