- Morbidity in the COVID-19 era: Ethanol intoxication secondary to hand sanitiser ingestion Alcohol-based hand sanitisers are appealing in taste and smell to young children and hence dangerous ingestion can occur. Case Report A 6-year-old girl was brought by her carer to the emergency department (ED) of a local hospital with a decreased Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), diplopia and slurred speech.
