Abstract

This article focuses on the rich and wealthy citizens of Auckland who are part of the elite $150 million plus club. Financier and property owner Mark Hotchin, comes close to making Auckland's top-10 wealth list, with an estimated minimum wealth close to $150 million. Hanover Group, the finance company Hotchin half-owns with Eric Watson, has continued to perform well, taking business from the high street banks. He is now reported to be branching into insurance. Property developer Ted Manson, has been carried along by the property boom and his company is debt free. Manson Developments' current major project — part of around $250 million of development work on the books — is a 29-storey tower on the former Northern Roller Mills site, Shortland Street, in the heart of Auckland's central business district. INSET: Australia's Richest.
