Abstract

Medical professionals and intensive-care resources have been and are still partially blocked for the treatment of patients suffering from severe COVID-19 infection. COVID-19 infection itself and the impact of the pandemic on the medical sector has relevant consequences to patients already on durable MCS support. Therefore, signs are pointing towards filling the gaps in the requirements of an extended MCS telemedicine care.21 De facto, resources are limited and justifiably reserved for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, the growing number of heart failure patients need to be considered, too. With limited resources, especially for intensive-care therapy to allow for the treatment of patients with COVID-19, MCS implantation is competing for capacities, especially in cases of elective surgery.
