Abstract

The article discusses the development and implementation of international health regulations in response to pandemics. Topics explored include the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO) with regard to global health security, the adoption of the 1951 International Sanitary Regulations by WHO members for disease control and surveillance, and the emergency response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
