Abstract

Dear Editor, We have read the article by Mancuso et al. [[1]] evaluating the impact of cardiovascular (CV) risk factors on overall survival (OS) in polycythemia vera (PV) patients with great interest. Interestingly, even though CV risk factors were recognized as risk factors for thrombosis in PV, with different CV factors differently affecting the type of thrombosis (arterial vs. venous) [[2] [4]], their presence was not included in the European Leukemia Net (ELN) risk assessment [[5]]. The authors have presented univariate survival analysis on a cohort of 165 PV patients demonstrating inferior OS in PV patients with 1 or more CV risk factors. [Extracted from the article]
