Abstract
- Although most of the case studies are limited to the Indian subcontinent, this volume still mounts a powerful theoretical case in favor of a renewed transnational approach to heritage, mounting a direct challenge to linear views of religious and cultural development. And if this small book makes no attempt to be all-encompassing and overambitious in this approach, it nevertheless teems with informative footnotes that are a stand-out feature of the book. I first opened this volume roving past Siem Reap, a few hundred miles away from where, a decade earlier, the Thai-Cambodian border battles flared over the Preah Vihear temple.
