Abstract
- Lithium-sulfur batteries have been studied as the promising energy storage device due to their high specific capacity and energy density. However, it is always a great challenge to solve the problems of the poor electronic conduction and severe shuttle effect of polysulfide. These two problems directly lead to low specific capacity and unstable cycling performance. To deal with this two issues, cobaltosic oxide nanospheres are developed and used as sulfur host materials in the lithium-sulfur batteries. Due to the efficient polysulfide adsorption and improved electronic conduction, the as-prepared Co<subscript>3</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript>/S composites deliver high specific capacity and stable cycle performance. The initial specific capacity of the Co<subscript>3</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript>/S electrode is about 1256 mAh g<superscript>−1</superscript> at 0.1 C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
