Abstract

According to the author of this article, fascism is not an occasional illness of society. The case of Italy shows that it is a crucial movement of structural contradictions of a society in which the process of industrialization and modernization is accelerated. In Italy the responsibilities assumed by the Catholicism have been fundamental in this field. One can support the thesis that the correlations existing between fascism and Catholicism have not come by chance, but that they are the result of more profound factors, which are not only of the political but of the theological type as well. The author illustrates this thesis through a detailed analysis of various contemporary religious documents. According to him, in this way one can demonstrate the key categories to understand the increasing crisis of the Roman Catholic Church throughout the contemporary world. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
