Abstract

In the article, the authors leverage a public opinion survey to assess the differences between emergency department (ED) and urgent care (UC) users for low-acuity health needs. Also cited are how UC centers or retail clinics are better alternatives for low-acuity complaints than EDs, as well as the independent variables on the use of ED or UC like household income, health insurance, and chronic illnesses.
