Abstract
- This article provides information on the American Public Health Association's 132nd Annual Meeting which will be held in Washington, D.C. in November 2004. About 14,000 public health workers from across the country and world are expected to come together for the meeting. The event, which has a theme of Public Health and the Environment, will feature more than 900 scientific and educational sessions, including roundtables, poster sessions and panel discussions, and about 4,000 scientific papers on the latest public health issues. The meeting will also include social hours, networking events and a wealth of continuing education opportunities. It will include renowned environmental health advocates such as Erin Brockovich, who will be the keynote speaker at the opening session. Brockovich, who works for a California law firm, is well-known for her work fighting environmental industrial pollution and was the subject of a movie. Many of the meeting's scientific sessions will also focus on the APHA top three priority areas including public health infrastructure, disparities and access to care. Meeting participants can look up sessions by topic via the online program on the APHA Web site.
