Abstract

The article covers a method for calculating the failure probability of torsion bars of new-type infinitely variable transmissions. The solution to the problem is obtained using the mathematical apparatus of nonparametric statistics, which provides calculation of failure probability regardless of the complexity of the effective and allowable stresses that occur during the torsion bar twisting. Calculations of the probability of the torsion bar failure during the heaviest-duty transmission operation are presented. The implementation of the method in the MathCad mathematical processor allowed defining the failure probability of the torsion bar under study, which is 3.82%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
